    So Long! It's Been Fun!

Since I had major problems with MSN, and it's not the first time, but is the last, I felt I had to do something. So what I did was install another operating system, Ubuntu. Unfortunately I had to leave some of my favorite programs behind, i.e. Xara That's life. Hope to see you all on linux someday...

Actually Brian, you don't have to leave all of Xara behind....there is a rather old but usable version for free of Xtreme....it works, I've tried it....

here's another solution - a second computer - keep it off the web - whatever issues you have with the windows operating system [or indeed MSN itself if you meant that literally] I don't see it preventing you from running windows programs on a 'sandboxed' machine... but who knows, you don't say what the issues are....

Well, as someone who's a happy windows user, I don't understand why a bad experience with MSN (haven't hear anyone talk about MSN for some time) would mean ditching the OS too. M$ produced some very poor operating systems at one time, but windows 7 has been a very smooth experience and has MSN been a problem? No. I don't use it.

So, move to linux, by all means, but a ton of workarounds to keep using windows software, because of MSN seems rather pointless. Of course, Brian may simply prefer Linux over windows, and that's a reasonable position, but MSN as a reason to move to Linux? The reasoning baffles me.

well if it really is 'MSN'.... actually you can easily remove it [and windows messenger too], under XP at least, which I did a long time ago....

MSN to ditch an OS? Oohkayyy.

Dual boot. Virtual machine. There are options.
