    Default Armstrong/ Whitworth A.W.49

More wings, I'm afraid. This illustration shows what a proposed aircraft in 1942 by Armstrong/ Whitworth may have looked like if it had ever been built. It never got past a paper submission. The aircraft are vector except for a very minor touch up in raster on main subject. The skyscape is a mix of vector and raster.

Really excellent Gray. Do you sell these images? It seems to me you could sell prints of your images to collectors and enthusiasts.

I don't sell prints of my illustrations, Gary. Just a spare time hobby I like to do. Thanks for your comment.

Gray your planes are fantastic! They remind me of the little model aircraft and booklet that the news agent sells now and again. What a shame its just a hobby Gray, it could be so much more.

    Great job Gray.

Your illustrations are excellent. I don't know how many you have done now, but it could be a fun project to self publish a book of them on lulu. Perhaps add some info on each plane to make it more interesting. I think on lulu you can publish for free/little cost.

Up to your usual high standards Gray...well done!

You've clearly drawn it in a Ground Attack role with the rocket pods & cannons, and because it screams "Vampire" at me, I had a quick look to see what this aircraft was all about.

Interestingly, if you can believe everything you read on the internet, it was designed as a 2 crew, single engine, long range bomber under Air Ministry specifications P27/32. This specification seems to have been won by the Fairey Battle though. There is mention of a prototype flying & crashing in 1936 & I wonder if they tried to re-imagine it as a single pilot, ground attack aircraft as you have drawn it?

Once again Gray, not only are your illustrations brilliant, they get the mental juices flowing with curiosity & intrigue! Well done Sir!
