Not sure how you are going about this but if you click twice on the bitmap fill with the Fill Tool, you can change the resolution on the Infobar. So if the original resolution was 300dpi then change the resolution dpi to 300 and press Enter.

Is it that you desire to size the container without sizing the bitmap fill?
If so, double-click and change the container. The bitmap should then not change size. I do note that one cannot (that I can see) make the container larger than the bitmap fill.
Nor, that I can see, change the placement of the bitmap (like CorelDraw) within the container by simply moving it around. Using the handles on the container achieves the same thing, but I do sort of miss the "hand" in CD being able to do this.
Hi mwenz, thanks for that, double click does just what I am after. Cheers.
While dragging tap the minus key on the numeric keypad.

Nice tip Phil, thanks.
Cool tips, I didn't know about the double click or minus key.
You can move the placement of the bitmap in the container by dragging the entire fill arrow. Xara just doesn't display a hand cursor.
