You'll need to use a little more finesse in dealing with the individual lines, but the following shows the general method of recreating that graphic.
Take two tapered lines... blend them... use linear transparency to make the ends wispy...
Hope this helps...
Blending is a pretty powerful tool in Xara.

Hi salkis
Here's how I did it.
Open the xar file in which I have written some instructions. The instructions assume that you know the Xara tools etc.
If the instructions are not detailed enough, then please let me know.
Mind you, I am assuming you are asking how James created the lines?!

Hi Salkis.
Yes, I see in this image which I didn't see in the first one!
It's like a mesh over the whole area.
The only way I can think of at the moment is to have a mesh over the background and have a mesh over the card separately. A mesh over the whole drawing would not work where the shadow of the card is. In my mind that is.
When I get a chance, I'll give it a go and see.

Here is what I managed to do and files are attached with instructions within.
With a bit more work you can ensure that your grid is the correct shade.
You could have the gird a particular colour and use a bit of transparency to achieve a similar result.
I've found that in Xara, you can do most anything and in many different ways.
Hope it helps.
If not, that's OK because I had fun doing it anyway!

Nice one Rik!
If someone tried to make me dig my own grave I would say No.
They're going to kill me anyway and I'd love to die the way I lived:

Really fine, Rik! And now I understand what the grid discussion was about. Couldn't see it before. Looks really nice.
Dear friends,
finally i figured out hot to make those thin lines
draw two lines either horizontal or slating,
then use the blend tool to make fine lines between them, specify the no. of lines until you are satisfied.
i saw this image ( the very first one in this forum from the magix.net personal album webpage.
now the question how to create fine dots in the black box. how to fill a box in xara with fine dots. is there a spray tool in xara?
thank
Salkis
