Default Basic Shape Creation & Line Gallery Questions...

I'm trying to create some pretty basic shapes for sign making. (see attached that were made in corel draw) How do you do corners like that in xara deisgner 6? radiused internal corners, etc...?

Then, is it possible to then save shapes like this to the line gallery, or something similar for quick and easy access?

    how precise?

one way is to make a whole pixel rectangle - then make a circle and align centre to one corner of the rectangle - then duplicate the circle three times, with the appropriate x and y distance set each time so that you have a circle aligned on each corner [or just do each manually] - group the four circles and subtract from the rectangle - outline, remove fill, and resize, as required

or you could make one corner - as above - slice it out - mirror it and combine - mirror again and combine to form the shape....

You not have to draw this one because DP6 already has this shape for free.
Look in the designs gallery for clipart folder then shapes folder, they are there.

But you can still add your own shapes to a special folder on your hard drive and put this in the designs gallery from the Disc designs button.

Hey Steve - I thought you were all for learning what the program can do and not for using shortcuts

    Hi mjindustry,

You can also use Xara very quickly to make plaques

    See this VIDEO.

The following sounds complex, but takes less time to do than to type.

Select the ellipse tool (or press L).
Ctrl/drag with left mouse button to make a circle.
Select the circle and ctrl/drag it to the right, and right click mouse to make another.
Select these two and ctrl/drag downwards, right click to make two more.
Click your ‘snap to objects’ button (icon of a magnet).
Double click the top left circle and you will see its centre point.
Select the rectangle tool (or press M). Place the cursor at the centre point of the top left circle and left button drag it down to the centre of the bottom right circle. When you see the magnet icon appear let it go. Your rectangle now has its four corners in the four circles.
Select all circles and group them (ctrl-g)
Bring them forward (ctrl-f) so they are above the rectangle.
While they are still selected shift/left click to select the rectangle and subtract shapes (ctrl-2)
Select shape and select shape editor tool (F4) and marquee around the right side nodes. Using your arrow key (and alt arrow) nudge these to the right. Do the same with the bottom nodes. You have your plaque. From there you can use the bevel tool (ctrl+F3) to make all kinds of frame effects. Adding colour and fills, from one colour to another, you can also add light and shadow etc. You can still alter the height or width using the shape editor tool by nudging nodes.

Well you guys are all awesome! << (love that smiley, sure fits here)

Thanks a lot, amazing! More than one way to skin a cat I see. Now to sift through here and see which one is best for what I'm doing. The good part is I'm sure to pick up valuable skills with each method described.
