    Default Export to AI/EPS

Export to which version of AI/EPS?
I need import to TypeTool like this:
    http://www.fontsnthings.com/howto/xar.shtml
But import not working. Maybe older versions of Xara exported to another version AI/EPS.
I have XXP5 and XDP6 and not working.
Why Xara not add export option like a Corel?
    Sorry for my english

    my thoughts:

basically, Xara has moved on to the modern adobe PDF/AI 'standard' and Type Tool has not

that said, there is a case for legacy EPS in Designer whilst still in common usage

But addition of choice is not a big problem for Xara?
    Let the user can decide!
Now is click and ... file.

    I add screen from Corel.

    PS.
Why for PDF is choice, not only latest Adobe 'standard'?

    Hi

PDF, AI, and EPS are adobe file types

and yes, adobe illustrator has lots of options for export but it is an expensive program; coreldraw also

xara have updated the AI export to be compatible with the later illustrator standard and this is very useful, but it has upset the legacy [older] EPS compatibility

I agree it would be useful if xara designer split out the ai and eps exports so there was a seperate AI and an EPS - but how practical that would be to program [and at what cost] I do not know

    This is only suggestion.
Xara Designer is my primary and favorite graphic tool.
I use too: QuarkXPress8.5, old Photoshop7, CorelDrawX3, TypeTool3, Inkscape (and other small tools).
I always buy update for Xara and Quark, rest of programs is old (I use from time to time).

I like drawing all in Xara (i Love this) and them export / copying to other apps.
Now when I have import EPS to TypeTool:
Drawing in Xara Copy/Paste to Inkscape and Export as EPS.

I can't really see the beef here! Xara's PDF works to all of Adobes PDF standards bar the newest one. The .ai..eps is just for older versions of Illy but it still works well if all that you are using is vectors. I know that some web based print bureau's want .eps but it is an old format not up to what new functions that the modern vector programmes can do. Look at what you have to do in Illy when you want to export in EPS you have to use the flattener for transparencies, meshes and any 3D work. Just as you would have to do with the older version of Xara before the PDF export was improved by making a bit mapped copy of an area. I know it can be a few pence dearer but why don't you use a local print company where you can have real dialogue about your output it will save money in the long run and you will have a better print run as well as you can incorporate newer functions of the programme that you use. Please everyone read the help files on the programme that you use with reference to EPS it will give you the low down on what you can & can't do with that format.
