The problem in your example is that the spacing between the brush elements is off as it is calculated between the centers of the elements. Thus, the space around the stripe is much smaller than the space around the center dot. You'd need to group an invisible stripe to every dot to get the proper spacing. A lot of hassle, imho.

Yes , I see your point.
However, a slight variation between the elements might make the dashed lines more eye catching.
Thereby changing a "Problem" into a "Feature" !
I think it is OK to bend the rules in the name of Creativity.

Yes please! I would LUV to see a dash pattern editor.
BUT I also wish Xara would finally get round to fixing the 'dash pattern bug' which is STILL present in Designer Pro 6. (Slick new interface - same old bug!)
We were told by a Xara Developer in August 2007:
"This problem is present back to Xtreme 2.0 (and probably earlier). It should be a pretty trivial fix."
I use dash patterns a lot, and find this bug intensely irritating.
