    Re - the PDF option.

You could still create and publish as web files but use Acrobat to import the Web files and convert them to PDF. Then post a link to the PDF as you do to the ZIP file. The best of all worlds. Keeps everybody happy.

Acrobat — or another professional quality pdf generator such as Jaws.

In my experience, Jaws is faster, cheaper and much more reliable than Acro.

Do you have a link for Jaws?

I know Jens likes to use Ghost Script. I'm sure there are others.

Ghostscript does work, although when I last tried it for pdf-ing, it produced larger files than either Jaws or Acro. (That was a few years ago, and there've been several upgrades since.) Ghostscript/Ghostview is free. One of the great techies in the Ventura newsgroup routinely uses Ghostscript. Has it set up so he can print to it directly, I think. He's a stickler for quality, so it must work well for him.

Ghostview is a GUI you can use with Ghostscript. It's not an editor in the sense that the Jaws Editor or Acro are. But it does have its uses. I generally use Ghostscript for testing problem pdfs and Postscript files.

Right now, I'm running an Adobe-free machine. Don't even have Reader installed. I'm using Jaws for all my pdf needs. The Jaws Editor is faster than the current version of Reader. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles that Acro does, but it has everything I need, and I don't pay time or money for features I don't use.
