    Default cartoon like look

Need some help. i recently gave a picture of my dog to a guy who is a graphic artist. after he gave it back to me, he applied a filter of some sort to it that made it look cartoonish. i attached that image so you guys can see what im talking about.

can someone help me on how he was able to do this to the picture. what filter if any did he use? i would like to be able to do this to alot of my images in the future but dont know how and cant seem to find out how to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The technique used is fairly straight forward and they are many tutorials on the web to help.
This is just one of the many that are available just to a search "Photo to cartoon +photoshop" and see the results. Here is one link:http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/dig...toonphotos.htm

yeah, i tried many tutorials online but none seems to give me the same look. i mean, it comes sort of close to it..but not the same type of look. it has to be a filter of some type..

Akvis Art Works has a cartoon mode. Runs as a stand alone or plugin.

A possibility exists, that the dog was made in a 3D program, the example I have shown was made in Daz Studio. Plug-ins for Daz Studio (free program) are available at a cost to give cartoon renders.

you might also try the color filter/poster in xtreme or in adobe photoshop use new adjustment layer/posterize. This one was made with XaraXtreme.

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.

If you want blocky colours try filters-cut out or the smart blur filter .

You can download a trial version of Professor Franklin's Instant Photo Artist and see if that produces what your looking for.
