eliminating the white on images

I know that you can use Mehdi eraser to eliminate the white background on images like logos but how do you eliminate it without eliminating the white in the rest of the image. On photoshop you can click on contiguous to do this. How do you do it on Xara? I know there must be a simple solution.

Have you tried using the shape editor to cut out the object?

This is the preferred method.
Remember that Xtreme isn't a bitmap editor like photoshop, Xtreme works in Vector space

OK, I do that all the time but had not thought of it to take out the white, I had just used the Mehdi eraser but it takes out all the white.

get yourself a bitmap editor that will do this - there are free ones such as gimp

set it up as your bitmap editor in xtreme - use it - much quicker

stop trying to screw cross head screws with a flat blade screwdriver

yes this is on topic - xtreme recognizes you may wish to have a bitmap editor - thats why the option is there, its an xtreme solution

You can replace the white after using MEHDI by dropping a white shape behind the parts that need to stay white, then group.

You can also increase and decrease the Tolerance slider in Mehdi. I am using it at this very moment.

Steve, maybe you need to start up a GIMP users group.

I have Photoshop CS4, a very decent Photo editing product, but I do about 99% of my photo editing in Xtreme. And I do a pile of photo editing. This is why I don't have that much time to spend in the forums.

and/or a magic eraser - I use that more - an easier to use version of mehdi, that has a contiguous option if you like...
