I entirely agree Spinny, I was trying to reverse engineer your map though to see how it was produced. The documentation on the CD is not very easily readable when it comes to doing something like this. Do you know if there is a book/dummys guide available for my version of the software?

For tutorial help there are dozens of video tutorials on XWD here:

    http://www.xara.com/us/products/webd...torials-demos/

For selecting the objects, one quick way would be start dragging the corner of a large selection box somewhere off the map (so you don't click-select it), and drag the box over most (but not all) of the map so as to encompass all the clickable areas. Then when you see the four corner dots of each appear, click a color swatch and they should all pop into view in that color.

Xtreme has something called an Object Gallery that would make selecting them much easier but I can't recall whether that's a feature of XWD.

Aah, I like the sound of that method of finding the objects. Anyway many thanks for your help Spinny, I'll take a look at the vids, there are some that come with the program but they didn't cover what I needed. Just to prove I seem to have it sorted; here's a link to my Magix free webspace with a pic of my three sons, they should mouseover and link to a separate page in a similar manner to your map. Very basic but I just needed a quick test-bed :-)

That's spot on, Trev, you're all set.

I appreciate your help Spinny. If I could prevail upon you for just a moment longer, is there a method of producing clickable objects that are not rectangular or square? I have tried both the ellipse tool and the shape editor tool, but no matter what shape I produce, when mousing over it's a rectangle that encompasses the shape. Not essential but would be nice to have in my application. Thanks, Trev

I'm pretty sure it encloses whatever shape you give it in a bounding box, sorry to say.

There is a way to get at least circular clickable shapes but it involves coding an image map in HTML and is nowhere close to as easy as just letting XWD do it. If you're interested in trying that I can get you an educational link or two.

    Trev,
Check this post for irregular shaped hotspots: http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthre...t=38900&page=2
