Rich I'll keep you and Laura in my heart and mind.
I was exposed to meningitis in 1967 when I worked the Emergency Room of General Hospital in Nashville. Treatment and medications of today are more effective and they were very efficient back then.

I got a lot of drug abuse and sucide questions at ER. Those cases are the highest percentage at ER. The main reason you have to wait forever to get help. The other reason was the symptoms. They really had no idea of what the cause could be. I was aware enough of medications, but not the doses. Good things to know at times. I track the meds, but not good at saying the names. I went over those things with the ICU doctor.
Laura's temperature is down, and she is continuing the antibiotics. I believe she is getting several different ones. Still sedated.
Rich
That's tough Rich.
I can't imagine what you must be feeling right now.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and Laura.
I wish I could be there with and for you, but sadly I can't.
Take care.

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.
Sorry to hear this. my best wishes are with you and Laura

Oh my, that is terrible news Rich. I am glad that Laura is getting good care and hopefully she is strong enough to fight this illness. They will see when she is well that there is no abuse or suicide. People react differently to disease and Laura's symptoms confused them. I pray she will recover quickly.
Things you should never say when pulled over by the police:
Could you hold my beer while I dig out my license?
Rich,
Thinking of you! I hope you will have Laura home soon.

Rich,
I had only a vague notion of what meningitis was. I looked it up, though, and it sounds fairly nasty. The good thing is it appears to be treatable and expectations of a full recovery run high when antibiotics are administered early on. My thoughts are with both of you. May the other passengers on Laura's flight fare well, also.
Have you considered contacting the airline? Maybe they could alert the other passengers to be on the lookout for early symptoms of infection? Just a thought as I don't know what their policy is for something like that.
Wishing Laura a speedy recovery,
Harry
Harry,
There are too many probable sources to know where the problem came from. I discussed this with the doctor. The person on the plane could have been anywhere on the plane. There isn't a way to isolate the cause. If there were multiple occurences, the chance would be better. Then someone would be calling us.
They ran some test today, but didn't have the results. I'll be there tomorrow.
Rich
Too true, I guess, Rich. I didn't see it (or maybe retain it) when I was reading up on the symptoms but did you happen to hear what the gestation/incubation period is for meningitis?
Just curious...
Rich, everybody has said everything already. Just adding my best wishes.
