Hi Enigmax, welcome to the forum. Below is an extract from the help files in Corel PSP X:
To save an image as a pattern
    1. Create an image in Corel Paint Shop Pro or another application.
    2. Save the image file in the Patterns folder of the Corel Paint Shop Pro program folder, or in the My Documents/My PSP Files/Patterns folder.
The pattern appears in the Pattern drop-list on the Pattern tab of the Material Properties dialog box.
    • To change the default location of pattern files, click the File Locations button in the Pattern drop-list in the Material Properties dialog box. For more information about setting file locations.

To add a pattern to a graphic, you need to go to the Materials Palette.
(See my attachment). Underneath the foreground colour, click on the small black triangle on the colour button, which will expand to show a texture button and a Pattern Button. Click the Pattern Button, choose a pattern from the list and using the Flood Fill tool, fill your graphic with the pattern you have selected.
    Saludos,
    Bob.

Any open image can be used as a pattern. It will be the first image in the pattern edit list . To make good use you may which to read the help on Seamless patterns.
Look under Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling.

A psp 7 Tut the dialogue has changed but not the method

Forgot to mention If your adding new patterns to an image then its important to get any folds and shape from the original into the new layer This is done with displacement mapping

There are also some guides on the corel web community area of there web site Hint they may be under PSP 9 as that is when they where added

This is what I was just looking for but the tutorial didn't work out to well for me. This is a basic template I need to add a pattern to:
    http://i25.tinypic.com/2wrdesi.jpg
I need to add the pattern and still keep the details of the fabric underneath.

Here is an example someone else did:

Can someone in laymen's terms explain how I would do this. thanks .

OK I have done a web page that might help
    http://www.trevorbowden.co.uk/test.htm

After posting it I think it would be better if the pattern had been far more contrasty Maybe Thresholded it
