    Default Trivial bug: selection bounds

Surely I'm not the only person this is happening to? It seems a pretty basic but rather annoying bug.

Pick Select tool, turn off 'Show selection handles'. Drag a selection box anywhere on the page. 'Show selection handles' still displays as off, but selected objects get selection handles nonetheless. Clicking 'Show selection handles' again turns them back off, but sets the icon to the on-state!

The same is true when dragging a selection box in the path tool, except that the difference is not immediately reflected/redrawn.

(I usually work with selection bounds off as I find them much too big and distracting, plus in 3.2+ the new rotate/shear behaviour often triggers annoyingly when trying to drag a control point in the corner of the object.)

[Xtreme Std 4 CD version, Win2k3SP1.]

Sorry I lied - I can reproduce it. If I marquee select the object with the selection handles off - it reverses the selection handles. If you marquee select again it corrects ...... etc. ad nauseum ........

    Good Spotting Bob,

It works for me too. Did a test in XX1 and it works correctly but not in XXp4.

    Still broken in 5.1.

Whilst I'm not one to moan on and on about lack of vector improvements, this is a simple yet highly irritating bug in the most fundamental of drawing tools. Can we please, please have a fix?

Happens as you say on both versions. That took along time for someone to notice!
