I'm sure this is amazingly simple, but it is driving me nuts. I want to create a simple ring with a bevel effect on it, but with the bevel on the outer edge and the 'hole' of the doughnut.
Does anyone know how to solve this?

Welcome to TG Forum Scarrott.
@Steve - I think Scarrott might be more impressed if you answer his question instead of just showing him that you can produce something like it.

Like this?
- create a circle
- create a copy on top of itself
- scale copy by 99% (just leave a thin circle)
- select both circles
- right-click combine slice (cut) shapes
- select center circle only and delete
- select 3d tool
- extrude a little
- rotate a little
- slide bevel size right up
- colour face and edges
(can also replace first 6 steps by creating circle with no fill, convert to line to shape)
Here's one way.
Saludos,
Bob.

Hi, Scarrot,
Any of the rings here is it what you are looking for?.
If so, Make 2 circles different size, put smaller over greater, align them centrally, and CTRL+2 to make the hole.
Then just use the fill tool set as circular, repeating, set color and set the profile as you dessire to get the effect.
Un abrazo
Javier
Thought I'd see what I could do:
1. Create Circle
2. Use the bevel tool, select Round Frame & Inner Bevel then adjust the size until the inner hole is the size you want.
3. Make a bitmap copy. Create a circle the size of the hole and place over the hole on the bitmap copy. Select the circle and the bitmap copy & subtract the shapes.
4. Done
