I'm not the best at such things, but I thin kyou will find it is a case of building up lots of layers of transparancies on top of each other.
Check out the Xara Gallary for other art work like the one you referenced. People posting there are regulars here and will be able to give you advice how they did it.

Simone makes some great images! A thread that Paul started some time ago may help you. It is "A Second Cup of Coffee" and shows how he made the steam for his image. Eric "Egg" Bramhill also made a great image in that thread.
Hope this helps.

Ok tell me how... Simone told me to buy his new book... from an italian distributor . No Way...
Glad you dropped in. You can find the scoop on the transparency tool here at Gary's XaraXone.com website. Hopefully you'll find everything you need to know.
I suspect Simone uses eliptical & circular transparencies a lot. He may be adjusting their 'profiles' to smooth out the gradation in the transparencies (ie adjusts their 'ramp' as it is sometimes called in other programs).
Knochi... Please go back in and add more info to your member profile. It is easier responding to people that are more than a name.

The line effects are feathered using the Feathering Slider on the top right side of the Infobar.
