Bug What's the best format for importing from illustrator?

I asked my artwork chappy to put some work he'd done for me onto a cd in a format that I could open in xx. He asked if .eps was ok - so I looked at the Save As formats of xara and told him yes, but it won't open. "error detected at line 10060 [25].

Was I right in theory thinking that this should have worked and there's just an anomalous gremlin in the file?

Which format would you advise to use in future? Thanks.

    .pdf

it works best with xtreme pro 4, and AFAIK with xtreme 4

the xtreme .eps filter is old....

    Hi Splodger,

Unfortunately .eps is not always a true .eps. Different versions of Adobe Illustrator create incompatible versions of .eps files (for other applications).

If your artwork friend uses Illustrator you may want to try changing the file extension from .eps to .pdf....Adobe Illustrator has used .pdf as it's default file format for a few versions now. Illustrator does allow a true .pdf to be saved with an extension of .eps

As Steve has pointed out the best format is PDF. If it is a straight vector drawing with NO effects like gradients or transparencies you could also try Legacy ver. 8 but that is if PDF doesn't work but you have more problems there with clipping masks.
