Thanks everyone for your help will experiment with the techniques explained and also the files the carbon fibers all look really professional great work
when building a repeating pattern is there any one technique that i should stuck to its just that I will be using a lot of patterns in my web design project

Simply, the pattern needs to join side to side and top and bottom.

I like the idea of seamless tiles, they seem almost magical in what they do.
Gary's tutorial also linked above in his post was good fun, and very easy to accomplish.
Along the way it also imparts valuable information about fractal fills and how to adjust them.
So it's not just a matter of learning about a basketweave texture, there are usually many other useful tips and tricks to glean.
