    Default Workbook question

    http://www.xaraxone.com/webxealot/workbook51/page_1.htm

I thought this short and easy tutorial would take but a minute to do. Wrong. I ran into a problem with it.

I do fine until I get down to the wavy line I'm going to use to slice my lamp base. I made a wavy line with the freehand tool and set the line width to 16. I then sliced as instructed and it did slice the objects. I don't get a separate wavy object in the center of the lamp base to apply a fill to.

So, I go back and read it again. It says 'Change the outline Width to 16pt'. What is 'outline width' and how is that different from line width? I can only assume they are different as line width did not work for me.

While I'm asking about this one, I have another question. I thought that I read that you can select 2 points and draw them together when skewing. Example, when tapering the lamp shade, they say to move the points 40 points. I had to do them separately. I thought I'd seen that you can select both, then move one inward and the other would move inward as well. Is it possible?

Nevermind on the top question. I think I figured it out.

Convert to editable shape is NOT the same thing as convert line to shape

    Hi Burpee,

Did you remember to "From the Arrange menu, select Convert Line to Shape."?

If you did not convert the Line to Shape you would not get the separate wavy shape.

The answer to your second question is no, it is not possible. You must move each node separately.

And I try to make the hardest things simple.

    Seems like we both failed.

No, no, you did good. I just can't read. You say right in the tutorial to click on Convert Line to Shape in the Arrangement file. Did I do that? No. I love your tutorials, thank you.
