    Default Help needed

    Hi guys,
Quick question..Does anyone have any idea how I could create something like this? (In Xara Xtreme Pro, of course)
    Thanks =]

EDIT: I'm able to type something, create a triangle shape like in the example picture, then Arrange > Combine Shapes > Subtract Shapes..This doesn't work for me. I also tried making the triangle semi transparent with a colour but it doesn't give the same effect

Hmm, let me give it a shot... I think you could have your colored shapes on one layer, and then above that, have a black rectangle. Then type your text and arrange as needed. If the letters aren't one block of text, you should group them first.

Lock the layer with the colored shapes. Then, select your text and shapes and press Ctrl-2 to subtract the text from the rectangle, and your colored background should show through. I attached a sample file.

    Hi,

    1)
-Create an polygon(6)(That's what I used here but the pic shows random overlapping triangles, choose the way you want)
    -divide in 6 triangles
-give each triangle a different color
    -create bitmap copy
-delete these shapes and bitmap copy
    2)
-Create your text(multi-lined) in a bigsized font
    -make line spacing very minimal
    -convert to editable shapes>ungroup>ungroup
    -select all and regroup
-make the fill of the group>bitmap
-in the the bitmap dropdown>choose the 6 colored polygon
-stretch to fit the grouped text

    done

    Hans,
I would probably type the text in whatever base color you want first. Then draw the various color shapes over the text, group them (not the text itself) and then apply the grouped shapes as a clipview.

Hue transparency is cool, although it caused a problem with the cross-member of the 'H' shifting, which I've never seen before. It persists, even zoomed. If you don't have a black or white background it will look funny unless you clipview it, although you might like the effect as-is.

I'd do it the same way Pixel Dust suggests:

A black rectangle with the required text subtracted from it. Over a background of various shapes and colours. You can even re-arrange your colours through the lettering.

    Wow..Thank you so much guys!
As you can see, it was my first post to "TalkGraphics", and I wasn't expecting so many answers overnight. I really appreciate your help, and will definitely be coming back here for more help.

Back to the thread..I've tried using all your techniques, and the one I found most successful was PixelDust's and Ron Duke's ways. Thank you to everyone else too for their suggestions, but for now i'll be 'clipviewing' it.

P.S. Although It's not the way I wanted it, haakoo's version looks the best in my opinion =]

P.S.2. Does anyone know a name of a really awesome bold, smooth font? Thanks

    Hi Z1nx,

This method could be closer to the way the original image was produced:
    * Draw a black rectangle
    * Type white text on top and adjust settings to get it how you want it
    * Draw a coloured triangle on top
    * Make line colour "none" and set transparency type to "Stained glass"
    * Continue drawing triangles of different colours and setting them all to "stained glass"...

Notice that where opposite colours overlap the result is a very dark area, often complete black, just like in the original above.
