    Default Aging a License Plate

I've spent the last several hours trying to give my drawing the aged look of the actual plate in the attachment. But I can't even come close. Can someone put me on the right track?

Have a look at the recent Grunge Challenge. There's plenty of tips there to make stuff look dirty and aged.

You could make an image mask by painting with a black brush on a white object. Then fill an object with the texture and use bitmap transparency to reveal the painted areas.

Hey, everone! Thanks for all the great tips.

It's my bedtime now, so I'll try them out tomorrow. I'm sure several of them will give me the look I'm after.
