    Default Odd distribution of colors

This is the image from this month's Xtreme Tutorial.

I like to try to export PNG rather than JPEG, especially if I have red objects in the illustration.

This one is basically all gray except for the wine glass icon.

Does it seem like the distribution of colors is a bit disproportionate to the amount of blue?

Not a big deal, it just struck me as odd.

Perhaps this is all about the picture definition and the fact that the teapot is more contrasted than the glass object : more contrasted = less steps ?

Or perhaps did you prevent antialiasing of the teapot picture ?

    kindly,

I think it's just a case of there being a limited number of unique (grey) colour values in the teapot, and more different (R, G, B) triplets in the glass.

If you took the number of colours down a lot I suspect you'd see much more bias towards the grey.

Perhaps, but why not just "limit your pallet" so to speak and reduce the color depth?
The tea pot can't have that many shades of gray, at least probably not that we could discern. So a reduction in color depth most likely won't be noticeable.
Plus the bonus of smaller file size, etc.

I agree Gary. I copied your image and masked out the wineglass icon and re-exported it. You can see that the huge blue palette has been reduced drastically.
