Thanks Egg. Good to hear it is running, and not so good about the guides colour.

Harry it is confusing. The registry entry appears to be updated, but the program continues using red. Would it be too much bother for you to try an uninstall then re-install? It may be there is an issue where it is not reading that registry entry at startup.

Thanks Robert. Your first registry request already is part of XaReg. The Bitmap Fill Drag'n'Drop Retain Current Fill Attributes works with those registry entries.
The link in your post is not working for me. Is this thread bitmap fillings settings away?
    the one you meant?
I'm already making a list of additional tweaks to be included in an update. Thanks for your suggestions.

    Thanks Miguel.

    Hi Bill,
will you be able to add to your app an ability to "Save your current settings" -- actually do export of the appropriate section (Xtreme 3.3, XtremePro 4 etc) from the registry? Just a button to save settings for a backup purposes in case reinstalling, glitches etc?

Thanks for your reply Bill, that indeed was the link I meant... great to see that it was already incorporated (I didn't realize it was the same settings).

Thank again for you work on this for all of us. Great job!

    Hi
    That indeed is/was the problem.
Uninstalling/re-installing XaraXtreme Pro 4 then applying XaReg 0.1.3.2 produces the required color for the Guide lines.

    Hi Alex,

Yes I do plan to add a function to save and load the settings for each version installed on the computer.

    Hi Hans,

Sorry to hear that did not fix the problem on your system. I'll continue to search for a fix. Could you please upload a screen shot of your HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Xara registry?

    Hi Robert,

I had meant to include a note in my original post about that feature. I was not sure how to name that checkbox so it was clear what function it performs.

    Hi Harry,

Great to hear that sorted the problem.

Hans please add XaReg.exe to your firewall settings. The .NET framework 2.0 attempts to open a port to verify an application's signature. XaReg does not use this feature but .NET 2.0 will request the port then not use it. It is possible your firewall detects the request and terminates XaReg.

Let me know if that allows XaReg to run on your system.

    Bill,

Have one more idea for your app.
Currently all settings are not duplicated in the Xtreme options.

But I'd offer you to implement an ability to change whatever is in the registry, even some particular setting could be made from Xtreme -- because it's always annoying to jump through different apps and menus etc. to get all settings and environment as you wish to be... If your app would set all settings, covered in Xtreme, it will be more convenient I'm sure. For example, to save settings for custom Control Bars etc... When I have to re-install XTreme, I just do import of all registry entries and have Xtreme ready to work in a minute... Please consider my point.

P.S. Maybe it's time to ask Xara team to reveal (explain) some registry settings more? OK, not publically, but at least for people like Bill and others? We could get a very useful tool then...

    Sorry Bill,

    Doesn't seem to work here
Must have some settings that makes this not work.
Keep it with Steve's exe files for now
