Problem using Xara 3D6 under Vista

While using Xara 3D6 under XP, it was clear sailing.
Now I changed computer and it has Visa Home Premium.
The first time I started the program under Vista, it starts OK but the work area does not display anything even when I attempt to enter text for a 3D style. It shows the "busy" status and never comes out of it.
I have not read anything on this Forum about difficulties related to Vista.
Could someone suggest a solution? My computer is much more powerful than my previous XP but I have no indication why the program goes into a busy state and does nothing.

Hi Geo,

Did you use the Run as administrator option when installing and the first time running Xara3D6?

I do not think I did the first time. I just did as an Administrator. It asked me for the program ID, clicked on Run and it displayed the following:
"Xara 3D has failed and no image can currently be displayed. Try undoing any recent changes you have made."

Of course, since this was my first time, there was nothing to undo.

Open for other suggestions.

Just play with the settings just change them randomly
that helped me ones when i got this message, just change some settings

No solutions so far... the ticket did not offer any effective solutions.
Now, when I tried my copy of Webstyle 4, guess what? It failed to start, gave me a message about TemplOp.dll not registering.
I reported it to Support and gave me a ticket... I re-installed, started as Administrator, to no avail.

Is it remotely possibly that Xara products have serious problems with Vista?

Anybody else running these two products under Vista without a problem?

I'm running Xara Xtreme Pro, Xara3D6, and Webstyle 4 on Vista without problems. And have done so through all the Vista beta releases and up through Vista SP1. The Vista service pack was released on March 18th 2008.

If you have the User Account Control (UAC) enabled you must run the installation program for the applications using the Run as Administrator and the first time you launch the application.

Logging onto Vista with an Administrator account does not work the same as it did in Windows 2000 and Windows XP. The UAC prevents updates to the registry that are needed to register components. You must either use the Run As Administrator from the right click pop up menu or turn OFF UAC.

Just to reiterate and concur with Bills post:

You need to INSTALL as administrator rather than install normally then run as Administrator.

Geo have you opened a support ticket with Xara Support?

The forum members are not Xara employees and can only suggest the things that have fixed most problems we have encountered.

Everything we know has already been suggested.

Are you by chance running a program called SpySweeper? That has been known to cause problems with many applications including Xara3D6 and Webstyle 4.

I got a ticket number assigned but other than the suggestion to re-install and run as Administator, they had no other solutions.
I do not use Webroot SpySweeper.
