    Unhappy Disturbing free photo

When I purchased Xara I got a coupon for 10 free credits at istockphoto. Today I received a newsletter from them, among other things there was a free photo offered. The photo was of a young girl lying sprawled in the middle of a road, and the photo was titled " Roadkill"

I found this photo very disturbing. On Jan 2, 2007 my 12 year old niece was struck and killed while crossing a busy road. She was just steps from home.

I will no longer be having anything to do with istockphoto. Perhaps Xara may want to re-think their affiliation with them

    Angelize,

I'm very sorry to hear about your niece. That's horrible and I'm sorry for your loss. It is terrible to be reminded of that by a photo included by iStockPhoto but remember that the company doesn't do the photography they sell stock photos of multiple photographers.

They should think a little bit more about the subject matter but art is always subjective. Unfortunately as artists we strive to draw some type of emotion from people, even if it hurts.

Again, so sorry to hear about your niece.

Graphicsbag, 1. istock may not take the photos but they still approve them for sale on their site, and in this case they even chose to promote it in their newsletter.
    2. That is not art. If you could have been there when my sister in law saw her only child die in front of her, or when my own two daughters cried themselves to sleep night after night you would not call it art either.

There is a saying that "some people's junk is someone elses treasure".

Unforutunaelty, "some people's humour is someone elses pain".

    Sorry for your loss.
