I stubbled upon this: 3DEM. Look at the site's examples - they are amazing. The software is US $35.

I've seen this before. It is a good program to coinside w/ Terragen, however alone I would hev no use for it. If you look at the credits on the site, the most impressive renders (to me) were the terragen ones. Plus Terragen is free!
You ever used it? A new version is out w/ transparent/lucent water!
