Hi, I generally use pattern screens (tints) which I buy at the art store to manually apply shading to black and white cartoon art. Is there a collection of pixel screentones available to use as fills in Xara X1? (aside from the ones provided with the software). The art is rendered at 300 and 600 dpi so I guess they would have to be high res fills (?). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Reason: addition
Generally you can use any bitmap as a fill. Rich spends hours and days, just making different bitmap fills to use on his projects. Persoanlly, i just snap a photo or 2 if I need a particular bitmap fill.
You can change the DPI of any bitmap fill... If interested, just ask...
Thank you very much Steve...is there a way to open/convert .pat files for Xara X1? Maybe a 3rd party software. Most of those links are for pat files, which I believe are Photoshop files.
Yes John, I would be interested...I have some low res gif fills I would like to use as well. Thank you.

The easiest way is to convert your bitmap into an editable shape then with the fill tool selected, click anywhere on the bitmap other then on the fill handles. The DPI will be show in the info on the infobar. Just type in the value you want...
The pat files that I have tried are photoshop pat files - I use photoshop elements 2 to open them as loaded patterns and save as bitmap for other programs
Sorry offhand I'm afraid I don't know of a way of converting them, other than using Photoshop, but if I come across one, I'll post up. There are quite a few bitmap tones there though as I recall.
I dug out the attached - if you need anything specific let me know, I may have it, or could convert it to xar if public domain pattern - if I find anything else to hand I'll post it up
file slightly large but contains 23 600dpi bitmaps
hope it helps

Reason: remove duplication
Save the bitmaps in a separate directory, open the gallery (fill, clip art) then click on disc fills and point the directory. As long as xara can create it's thumbnails, then it should work fine. Pointing to a CDR can confuse the gallery tho... (No thumbnails to show.)
