She is one of my hardest character projects these times, but I like it a lot!
Made with Silo, and the hair details are vertices extrusions in Wings. Rendered in Lightwave.
Enjoy,

Thats some smooth modeling Ivan.
How do you like using lightwave?
Hi Ivan...
as per usual you seem to be able to conjure characters from thin air... what a terrific imagination you have...
regarding the mesh... ok, there's really no easy way to suggest this but...perhaps it would be more benificial to create more with edge loops in mind from the git go, making for much easier manip, as well better overall mesh integ... would also go a long way in lessening those poles where a vert is centering five or more poly's... these pole areas could prove nasty for the ole topology upon further deforms etc... just a thought
and last but not least...awesome eyelashes and brows
Thanks Mike,
I use Lightwave for my renderings and somtimes I use it also for a last surface subdivision at rendering time. I have learned to modelize in Lightwave modeler and I was very surprized by the fantastic number of free modeling plugins which appeared after the 6 release.
Despite that its persistent lack of support for n-gons in subdivision surface area is a true problem. I think that could be a very important issue in the future. I would expect that the recent delaying of the 8 release could be a sign of some negociation with the "Modo" staff in the aim of introducing it as the new Lightwave Modeler (but I know I am a dreamer ...). Now I use Silo for modeling and I really love it. It proves that nicely chozen functions are more useful than gazillions of additional plugins!
On the other hand, if I use Lightwave for my renderings that's because I own it (that was a big investment for me) and it has some advantages there (its speed, ...). I like a lot texturing and shading in Lightwave.
However, bones are a pain for me in Lightwave (I am not interested in animation, but they ar so useful for posing).
That's all for my today's tiny review ;-) ;-)

ivan

Hey Gidgit,
I was writing at the same time to Mike !!! Many thanks. Of course you are right about topology and edges loops for harsh manipulation like articulations. For the faces I am now trying to drastically reduce the important control points for the expression of each character and I am convinced that in this area edge loops aren't allways the best solution for posing. Remember I am not interested by animation.

Great job, love the eyes.
A most unusual yet endearing character Ivan.
So many apps used in this series... mind boggling to this new 3Der.
Bob C.
Thanks Randy and Bob. I am happy
For some personal reasons linked to the history of this little character, "endearing" IS a word that I was in hope to read !!! (All my characters have a very definite history and are based on my personal experience).
