Maybe it's just your graphics drivers. Vista is renowned for less than optimal drivers because it's so new. If you can try an alternative driver, it might help.

I sometimes get graphical artefacts with Vista32 when Aero is on. See if things get fixed if you switch Aero off.

    Hi Mark,

It's not too hard to change drivers, but I'm not running Vista and I'm wary about trying to help you if you're not sure of what to do. Either someone else will step in with some instructions, or perhaps you could get a mate around to help you?

That said, it's usually a matter of going to the support section of the website for the manufacturer of your graphics card and checking out the latest drivers and following the instructions there.

    Thanks Paul,
I`ll check out the graphics card website.

its a nvidea Gforce 8800 gts.

no real observable problems seem to occur until I use the edge feather
slider, then the artifacts and problems occur...I`ll check the drivers
and see what my seller has to say about insallation..
    thankyou..

    Hi Mark,

If you have a My Computer icon on your desktop (not standard in Vista) you can right click on the icon and select Properties then select the Hardware Tab then click on the Device Manager button.

If you do not have the My Computer icon on the desktop click the start button, if you have My Computer on the start menu (right hand side of menu). Right click My Computer and select Properties, then Hardware, then Device Manager.

If no My Computer on the start menu then select Control Panel. When Control Panel opens up select Classic View (upper left of the window).

In Control Panel double click the System Icon. Select the Hardware Tab then click the Device Manager button.

I don't have a Vista machine here at work so I'm guessing at the wording although it should be similar to Windows XP which I do have here.

Once you have the Device Manager open, expand the node for Display Adapter. Right click on the adapter name and select Properties. In the properties dialog select the Driver Tab. Click on the Roll Back Driver button and follow the prompts.

im sure the device manager had the display adapter as the Nvidea card,
now its just reading "standard VGA graphics adaptor"...
