Default A tutorial on pie charts, like this one?

I found this great tutorial on how to create these cool pie charts:

    http://www.bartelme.at/journal/archive/creating_graphs/

...unfortunately, it was for Illustrator, and I don't own that program.

Are there any tutorials that anyone has written on how to EASILY, I emphasize this word, easily create these cool charts in XXP (Xara Xtreme Pro)?

    Thanks...

    Something like this?
It would be easier if you had Xara3D

    Here's some info

I was experimenting with 3D text as I couldn't find anything decent in the forum.
I saw this thread and tried my method on a pie chart.

It is quite quick and easy although cutting the circle into segments was not as simple as another post seemed to instruct: ie. reducing the 'stellation ratius and offset' to zero makes it incapable of being used to subtract from the circle, unless I am doing something wrong.

This is a bit more similar to the example. To make the top surface smooth would require a bit of cutting and pasting.
Now the difficult part, to explain...

If you wanted to do it in Xara, you could. Tutorial attached.

Nice tutorial Ron, I wish I did it.
My method was similar except mine was shaded by the lighting used in the bevel tool as the blend was made up of these. Such a method is handy when using complex shapes such as text etc.

Thanks to everybody who posted helpful links and info. I will try them all once I get home from this business trip - the reason I am working on graphics I have been asking about lately. I'm sure I will have other questions once I give these suggestions a try.

    Ron,

Okay...I tried your tutorial instructions. When I do Ctrl-4, it repositions the lines and increase the pie angle. Afterwards, break shapes is greyed-out and unavailable.

    Any suggestions?

Xhris, I started trying yours too but I don't own Xara 3D to continue. Any way of doing it in just XXP?
