    Default Enterprise model

Just started doodling with this, and it looks like it will work out OK. But I will rebuild it again from some of the original XaraXtreme shapes, as I made the initial orientation of the ship's bow to the top, and I will get more flexibility of positioning if the bow was to the left or right. I hadn't really thought it through enough before I started.

Part of the decision to do this stems from limitations in applying textures, once I make them. If I have several options in how a given part is made and positioned, then it is be better to choose one that lets me apply the best texture(s) for that part.

Still working on it, rebuilt the X3d file as I planned last night, and applied some simple textures, but I mostly just need to flesh out the detail in the textures and the structures. The main problem at the moment is that I am working from memory as to what the ship actually looked like, and could do with a good image to work from.

I know Icannot dish the dish at the front of the engineering hull, nor scallop the rear of the hull below the hangar deck, either, though suitable texturing might disguise that a bit, perhaps.

Suunto, yes, the images are all straight from Xara3D, as are the following ones. The middle one has different lighting, which is something I'm always fiddling with.

    Excellent Mike!

I have trouble making an Enterprise model in Cinema4D and you are making it in Xara3D.

    Hi, Bill, thanks for that.

I'm sure that yours will end up much better than mine, I know that Xara3D is entirely the wrong s/w to make this kind of model, but it is still fun to see how far I can get with it, I can foresee hours of tinkering ahead!

    Cheers,

    Mike

    Hi Mike!

I just dropped in for a short visit, and I had to check out the X3D forum. I see you're still up to your old tricks, making impossible images in X3D.

    It's looking good Mike.
I assume you must have used the swing animation like you did with your X-Wing?

and the paint wasn't even dry!

I suppose I asked for that, but did you have to use my own TIE fighters against me? I'm obviously not paying my pilots enough!

Yes, swing animation, and I'm still working on it, a couple of things to fix. Flatpack to 3d animation attached.
