Not that it really matters a whole lot, but I was going to upload a new animated gif for my Avatar - but animated gifs are no longer accepted
So, I'm back to a static image - which is fine.
Any particular reason for static images only?

Are you sure? Kiwi and Graphicsman use them.

Yeah, noticed that myself a few days ago. Bit of shame :\Originally Posted by Bob Hahn
Wonder what's the point of preventing animated gifs, as just about any other forum does accept em :\
Bob,
When you say that "animated gifs are no longer accepted" -
Do you get some sort file-upload error?
As far as I know, vBulletin can't differentiate between static and animated gifs?
You attached image and avatar are animated to me...
Your attached is animated, but the avitar isn't on my screen... hmmm is there a user parameter for that?

My Avatar was animated - just a couple of blinks, but I made one where his eyes moves and does a little sniffle. In the process of updating, my original animated Avatar was deleted, to upload the new one (Avatar now is now a static one) but trying to upload, I get the message...Originally Posted by Risto Klint

I figured it would still be alright, because it is below the 8 KB mark and 80 x 80 pix.

Bob,
I was wrong then... (it happens sometimes ) Perhaphs there was something changed in some board software update somewhere? I'm sure that Antony didn't limit this on purpose. As you mentioned, file size is probably more of a concern than if something moves or not...
The reason why I "saw" your file attachment AND avatar animated, was that the former was in my cache. Whren refreshing - it became static...
I'm sure Antony will look at it.
I'm not sure if I did upload my animated avatar or not, but here is a workaround you can try:
Right click over the animated gif you just attached, go to the bottom of the popout list to call up the properties box, drag your cursor to highlight the url of the attachment and right click again to copy it to the clipboard.
Now go back to your user's control panel and click on the edit avatar link. You can paste the url you just copied into the avatar url box (right click over the box and choose paste).
It should work, at least as long as this thread and your attachment exists...

Na, didn't work - "Invalid File"
It's no big deal - just a little more fun having an animated image. Like yours, now that's crazy
But thanks!

You're right, I can't get it to work, too. Something's changed...
Hope Antony can clear things up...
