    Question text imprints

I know there is a way...but so far I cannot find it.

I am trying to create text that looks like it is stamped in metal; to look like it was stamped onto an object. A good analogy is a military dog tag. I've tried to bevel it but I cannot get it to have that stamped look. I've got a few bitmap and plug-ins too but I cannot find the effect in any of them.

If anyone could help me I surely would appreciate it.
    Regards,
    Meia

I have a feeling that Gary has done something similar, in his usual excellent fashion? Gary?

    Meia,

Use an outer bevel and then play around with the light angle. Try something around 115-120 degrees.

You might want to take a look at some of the workbooks in the xaraxone. There are some tips on both metals and getting the etched look.

    Meia,
There are probably lots of different ways to accomplish this, but this is how I did it. I did not come up with this technique myself but am just passing on the information that was detailed in a previous post, but I don't remember where or by whom.

Thanks for sharing the info. I've tried it but am having a bit of problem getting the text to show up; perhaps it is the texture I chose. I changed the font color so that the text would be more prominent.

    Thanks much ~

Remove the outline from your type.

Pick a font like a typewriter font that would be more appropriate for embossed letters.

    Apply an inner rounded bevel.

    Meia,

In step # 4 of my example, I did Arrange > Combine Shapes > Substract Shapes.

It appears that you did Arrange > Combine Shapes > Slice (cut) Shapes.

Also, as you mentioned the texture (fill) you used may not work quite right.
