    hahahahaha

thanks for the education, soquili, i tried using the cusp nodes and they work great
i would like to make that the default
i would also like to make default the units and grids settings that all the tutorials tell you to use
but i don't know how to make anything a default
and i'm not all that comfortable going into the registry - i have in the past - and all worked out fine - for other programs
but this is Xara - my new MOST EXCELLENT BELOVED program and i don't want to mess it up
is there anyway within Xara itself to make those things the default???

    Drifter
You can make all these defaults without going into the registry.
In a blank page, of whichever size you prefer:-
    Select the cusp node icon.
Open the Utilities / Options / Grid & Ruler. Set to whatever you desire. Apply.
Select the Font Gallery. Select whichever default font you like. Hit set.
Now instead of the normal 'Save' or 'Save As' select 'Save Template', call it 'Drifters Template', tick the 'Use as Default Template'.
Now each time you select New, Xara will open with your chosen defaults.
You can open a new file as often as you wish, change most defaults and overwrite 'Drifters Template' as often as you wish.
I'm not sure of the maximum number of default templates Xtreme allows, XaraX1 could only handle 10. I'm not sure if this has been adjusted.

Wow! Most eggcellent! Thank you so much!
(This is probably in the book that has yet to arrive on my doorstep. My assumption is that we here in Wisconsin will receive ours last because of the poor performance of our beloved Green Bay Packers this year... hahahahaha)

    Thanks Egg!!!

You could use Xara to animate the legs and arms and "Give your CREATION L-I-F-E !!!"

    Would be truly hillarious.

Great idea, Sally, but I have an animation pkg w/ PSP. Haven't installed that yet. And I'm working on getting xara, too. pcjunkie has been helping me with all the necessary downloads--but taking a break from that stuff

    That is great work drifter.
I know that takes some time. I did not spend so much time. I just took a recent photo and then added some plugins effects.
