Default Watercolour paper edge effect mini-tutorial...

I created this mini-tutorial to show the photoshop users over at the SketchUp forums how easy this is in Xara. I though maybe somebody here might find it a useful technique so I'm posting it here too.

I used the 'Jiggle' plug-in from Eye Candy 3.1 but a brush could be used instead to get the rough line.

    Regards, Ross

Could also work into a palette knife technique. Great idea.

I'd like to see how you'd do a palatte knife edge Sally. I used a similar technique (only layered it a few times) to give the rusty torch-cut edge in this tribute to Neil Young. (Originally posted in 2001 --I'm feeling old).

    Cool effect Ross.

I'm off to give it a try. I even have a use for it in a brochure I am designing. Thanks :-)

    Ross,

I would think you could add the images together, and use one of the color eliminators to get a transparent graphic. Eliminate White and Eliminate Black plugins work in Xtreme. There are other options, of course. Rich

Rich-- who makes the plugins you refer to?

I attach a variation on the same sort of technique. In this one drew a rectangle with no fill about the same size as the image. Giving that overlaid rectangle a heavy roughed-up line (the same colour as the background) gave the digital sketch a more realistic edge.

I've been back at drawing Dumbledore, but it is high on my agenda to twiddle with your idea and do a palette knife technique.

    Mehdi Eraser

I made a red turkey brush and applied it to a line. Made a rectangle the same red color. I filled the center with a paper texture. Made a bitmap copy, and used Mehdi Eraser to remove the red color. Rich
