Good work, Bob. I'm curious what it is about Corel Draw that made the wheels easier to draw in that app?Originally Posted by Bob Sommerville

I'm not Bob but I can think of one way in which it would be easier. It would be a lot easier to create the spoke object, rotate it from the center of the circle then use Corel's Ctrl R (as in repeat) to do the rest of the spokes.

I would have just done a circle for the "spokes" and a profiled line for the black between the spokes... then create a rightclick clones around the center. 2 minutes...
Hi all...Thank you for the comments. I am aware that we can draw spoked wheels or radially space objects pretty quickly in Xarax also..I just chose to do it in Corel Draw as it was a spur of the moment diversion from normal commercial work. I use both programs each complementing the other as required.
The attached Mini Cooper was created in Xarax using a photograph and the wheels were drawn in Xara. There is quite a bit of detail when viewed up close. Undoubtedly though Xarax is my choice for this type of drawing because of its intuitive response to the creative "flow" that develops while working on the sublect.
once again thanks for your feedabck
Bob
Yea there's a little math involved but once you get a couple spokes in there you can rotate the bunch, keep grabbing & rotating, it goes rather quick.

After you do wW's math and determine a degree of rotation between spokes, you can set the angle of rotation in the Page Options > General section to that amount.
Then double click on the spoke, drag the center of rotation bullseye to the center of the wheel, hold down the Ctrl key (to constrain the rotation to the amount you specified) and drag, right button click to drop a duplicate, drag, right button click, drag zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Hi..this is wheelie interesting!.. I appreciate that all of us have a preferred way of working...I find it very productive to flick between Corel and Xarax to use whatever does the job best.
Below is another way I have often used to create a wheel in Xara that is very quick and the finishing tools allow some very nice effects.

that is what is so great about xara.. the simpler the task, the more ways there are to do it. Excellent drawing app...
