Not exactly what I had planned. I am still looking for things to use as texture. I was wondering if overlaying transparent objects had a similar effect as under painting to enhance the colors. Rich

I like to build up transparent layers like a painter might build layers of glazes.
Like your effect.

Try stained glass transparency on the overlay, use the percentage slider to adjust the amount.
This works exellently for enhancing any image.

I am continuing to gather abalone shell colors. A friend gave a few additional fresh shells for my efforts. My puppies went crazy, and I had to put the shells on the roof. I am trying to photograph the shells by placing them under water. This seems to work if I hold the camera just right. I like the patterns and colors, and their use as fills. Rich
I think I like the first one better, the wings have a translucency to them. The second image looks kinda "rough" for lack of a better word. Even roaches have translucency to their wings even though they are the grossest things skittering around ............ ICK!!!
No one's said anything yet but I think the image is outstanding. You are very talented artist and really like to push Xaras limitations over the edge!!! Bravo

Rich, since you collect abalone shell for its beautiful pearly colours I thought you might like this one I made in Xara with some bitmap plugins - no real shell was involved.

The files start about 800KB, and then I crop out the usable parts of the images. I put these together, and exported from Xara X. It took a long time. Guess it was all the image data involved. I will probably do a screen capture in the future. Green lip mussels are on the menu for photographing today. Rich
