Psaumure's thread XARA or 3D Rendering Software, got me thinking again about something I had a go at earlier this year. Thanks Paul.
Not being an artist ... I'm a CAD technician. I thought I'd try my hand with FREE Sketchup (I'm sure more than a few of you have tried it). I also discovered that Sketchup is exportable to a FREE rendering engine called "Kerkythea", and decided to have a look.
I drew - rather quickly - an ultramodern chess set, and wanted to do it in glass. Kerkythea seemed to have what I wanted. This was more to try and prove a concept than make a finished work of art. To be honest, my computer is rather slow, and I'm not sure whether I ran out of patience waiting for this to render, or something glitched slightly with the bases. However, for a net outlay of ZERO and about the same talent, I am more than pleased with the result.
I'm sure it's something one or two of you might like to have a look at.
One day hopefully, I'll revisit this. Work a little harder on the chess pieces, and see if I can't improve it somewhat.
Keith
