It is difficult to do it justice... but here is my attempt.

Where I used to live, up north in Sweden, the northen lights were so strong that you could almost here them 'crackling'.

Wow, that's weird, no more than 10 minutes ago I was trying this, but gave up! Then I read your post, guess I'll have to try it over!

That's beautiful! The overall image is great but I especially like your forest. I can just picture the lights dancing over your forest.

It is amazing what you can do with Xara X with a minimal effort. I'm pretty happy with how the forest turned out, also. I will thin out the trees a little bit on the left side and perhaps add a little bit more variation to the tree tops.

The northen lights are a blend of a light-green and light-blue wavy line with saturation transarency. There is also a clone of the same blend with brighness transparency slightly off-set to the side.

Both blends sit ontop of a light-green/black sky; with an elliptical fill.

Think about how much Nordic (Danish Vikings)influence there are in countries all over the world :-).
Even Australians that think they decent from British convicts, have Viking blood in their veins.

...but not very realistic. Here is a photograph of an Alaskan aurora borealis.
