I am trying to recreate the effect on this logo. Any interesting ideas how to make this in Xpro?

Thanks for the additional ideas. Wonderful!
Good for future work and certainly some food for thought and experimentation.

No problem, but you shouldn`t go from my
ideas, I am on a logo contest site and never win.
The only thing that makes me feel less bad, is
that the logo`s some choose make no sense to me.
In three cases they choose what I considered the best one.
    (no, not mine ) .

Sure, I mean using your ideas of techniques to create something of value.
Logo design is an intricate process and can be very tricky at times.
For my work in the NGO sphere and as a freelancer I found it's hard to communicate sometimes what the organization/individual needs.

I think the logo is about the concept, the idea; the technical skills also play an important part since if you can't implement it right then it's not there.
Sometimes I get inspiration from my family, my 3 year old son, looking at his abstract drawings.

Please let me know what is the logo contest site you are referring to. It would be interesting to check it out.

I see you are based in Holland. I finished some of my studies there and would love to share some concepts about the Dutch culture. Drop me a line if you like.

Thanks again for sharing your expertise!

Here's another technique you can use if you simply want to control the color of a black object on a white background as you have illustrated, overlay the object with another object of your desired color, then apply 0% bleach transparency to the overlay.
