    Hi all,

I thought a festive Subject might get some attention... and it is pretty much what I am asking you all about: how to draw a gold ring in Xara X.

I have looked at the clipart ring provided in Xara X (the one that's supposed to be "The One Ring"), but it doesn't cut the mustard.

Firstly, it doesn't have much volume to it. It ought to be more curved on the outside...

Secondly, it isn't metallic/shiny. I have examined my own wedding ring, and see that the inside is much more shiny than the outside... I don't want to reproduce all the scratches, dents and blemishes that have appeared over 5 years (in the ring, not my marriage!), but think the difference in reflectivity would be worth drawing.

Has anyone got any good ideas to help me? Is there a tutorial that deals with shiny surfaces that would help?

    Thanks very much,
I promise I won't ask about drawing turtle doves (though a blend from a turtle to a dove might be interesting... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

    Here is a mini-tutorial.
