I'm curious when y'all see it best to draw something in perspective vs. applying the mould tool to gain perspective. Any thoughts?

Generally if the subject lies in a single plane (e.g. a poster, a flat panel of a truck, a fence or the wall of a building) Mould is the technique to use. Where Mould invariably fails is if elements of the subject extend beyond that plane, or if the subject is intended to be a 3-dimensional objects (e.g. a car or animal).

Great explaination Simon. I see that is what I've been doing without knowing why, or how to put it into words. Thanks.

I often use the Perspective Envelope to do perspective, but, you need to foreshorten your image. So, in the example of the car, reduce the width of the car so it is 50-80% then apply the Pespective envelope. (You can also apply the perspective first then reduce the width of the image until it looks right.

Yes, but you must agree that the Mould-ed car looks like a cardboard cut-out car rather than a 3D car, foreshortened or not!

I agree Simon. But it looks like a cardboard cutout both with and without perspective :-)
