How to restore XAD19 back to square one

I return after many carefree years of Designer Pro continually upgrading all the way from Art Works (I still have the original box) to Designer v.19.
I have a problem now because I am unable to find a way to the normal text tools. All I see are web tools and I can't find my way back. What did I do??
I decided to reinstall from the backup disk I bought at the time. It was still unopened and sealed up ready to go. On starting it up I found instead of v.19 it showed v.17!
Was the wrong disk sold to me or is there some administrative software magic which will turn it into v.19? I have now fallen back to v.18 to keep going.
Help and advice please.

as far as version 19 goes you could try going to the program window menu > control bars and then clicking reset button:



I think version 17 was the last version to be issued on disk; versions 18 and 19 were online download versions only, as I recall
