Yes, it would seem that black or white is a no no. I have also found that using Xara's Gaussian Blur helps to soften things up quite well. I had tried feathering the shapes but that wasn't so successful. I still haven't figured out the overlay part for lettering and logos, etc. I have an old copy of Photoshop but quite frankly I'd rather do it all in Xara if it's possible as it'll will save me a lot of time and a rather steep learning curve. I'm seeing a few impressive examples turning up in the Facebook 3D groups and pages now (and some absolute horrors!). So far personally, I'm not managing to better a quick snap on my wife's iPhone just yet. Here's one I took yesterday:

I've been trying FB's 3D thingy out with mixed results - some have come out quite well, some are pretty wretched. It does seem like each case is a unique one. I don't use Omnivert, just make the depth map and adjust it by posting on FB using the "Only Me" settings. I post from desktop, not the phone, so I can keep working the depth map and seeing how it looks. And yes text is very difficult to get right!

There's also an app called DPTH, (which is free with a watermark on the images) that'll have a go at creating a depth map using AI. It's very much in development but it certainly does a fair job at guessing. I used it and then tweaked the depth map it produced in Xara. I used an image of Marilyn Munroe that I had previously colorised. It worked out fairly well. Here's link to it:

Hello there! I've searched extensively for this app online, but I'm unable to find a specific link to download it. It appears to be unavailable or not widely accessible.
