Daniel,

Thansk for the quick commercial break on Zip drives here but i don't see the relevance. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

    RamWolf,

All I did was save the file the night before as I usually do before I turn off. If I remember correcty Xara shot up an access violation error when I went to close it.

Anyway thought nothing off it as I had already saved the file. That's about it. I'm happy to send the file to the technical support.

Hey I found another file the same, Remember that Teddy Bear I created a couple of months ago, same error. And thats about the same time the two Images were created. Here I'll attach the file see if you have the same problems.

    Thanks for trying John.

Maybe I'll send it to Tech Support and see if they can fix it. I don't want to re-draw the bear as it was my first Xara creation. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/eek.gif

    Casey,

As mentioned by Christine, in the first reply to your thread:

quote:
Christine: Sorry to tell you but unless you have a backup, it's back to the beginning again.

I've had this happen before and even sent the file to Xara - even they could not fix it.

I think she is right. I have had it happen to me twice...

I'm sure Xara Ltd. will get this one figured out eventually. It really isn't that common of a problem - otherwise we would see more of these kind of posts here - I'm sure! Meanwhile, if you really need that bear - I think you need to redraw it... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

    @Casey,

the bear is using many many brushes. As I wrote in another thread, that seems to overload XARA. I tried to improve Gary's turorial bear by giving him a body and suffering crashes every time. The saved file was corrupt every time afterwards. If you take a closer look at the file, you'll see that it's cannot be fixed, totally corrupt....:-(
It's just a bug - easy to reproduce and IMHO difficult to fix :-)

Actually I think you completed that bear, didn't you Casey?? I remember it being posted here and there afterwards! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif Nice job too!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

It isn't a Zip drive and I don't have any link with Iomega. Don't worry about not seeing its relevance, others who have been here for longer will remember the backup topics for they went to great lengths about how people protect themselves from file corruptions/multiple revision backups.

The Rev drive is another method, and IMHO a very good one at that.

OK - All the same a backup device of any nature would not have saved me from this problem. The file was corrupt the minute it was saved.

Like I said thanks for the quick Intermission from the topic subject. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

I had the same problem a few weeks ago and there is a thread here that i started http://talkgraphics.com/groupee/foru...88&m=777101596
dont know if that link works or not. but anyhoot i thought it was a problem with some brushes i dl'd but i finally figgured out it was the many lines of the brushes. i tried to do it in layers and still craashed. had my brother inaw do it on his computer (dual zenon procesors. crashed his to. end result gave up on the drawing. trying to figure out how to achieve the same in corel draw 12.other than that xara runs smooth. hope that sort of helps.
