    Default Video Request

Request for a Video on HOW to make the edges of a font match a fill's texture. I'm on a quest to learn how to make my my fill's texture look more real on the side of the font, you know, like, raised edges so that the image looks more dimensional. This is freakin' difficult to explain because I don't know what that process is even called, mapping something? If it, or something like it, can be done in XDP that would be awesome!

Thanks for your help. You guys are great!

top is an outer bevel - bottom an inner bevel

the text only has bevel applied, no outlines

bevel is selected with ctrl+click to apply fill to it separately

    sorry I don't do videos

bit of feathering might help it blend into a background ? ...

    handrawn,

That's not quite what I'm looking for but I do like that idea of yours. I will definitely consider it for future use! Thanks!

Hi Mark, have you tried embossing the text? Go to FX/stylization filter/emboss.

ok - if, with text selected, you go to live effect tool [ctrl+f5] click on new button and select 3D bump map - is that more like what you want ?

edit - yes emboss is a good one too and bumpmap next to it... in fact it's worth looking at all four stylization filters

    handrawn,

What I'm looking for is trying to do...let me use a metaphor for this one...if you step on a bug he is not taller anymore but wider at the sides...that's what I'm trying to achieve. A sort of spreading sideways of the font but doing it in such a way that the side is raised to look a lot like the fill texture, so that they match or nearly match.

I have no clue if I make any sense at all. LOL!

Actually what I meant was more like the fill on my bookcover's title. That way the sides are somewhat like the front. I created the "illusion" but it would have been better if it were more like the real fill.
