no doubt - but I'm just saying there are times when dragging is the quickest way

HD, your situation is why XDP needs to have a tint slider without the need to a named color. It would still involve the color editor or a "color gallery" that can be docked if desired.

and the end of the day I colour cartoons on the fly most of the time
I guess if I were doing fine art.. well I'd be using painter....
