You can't use these on a shape as they are website backgrounds (the clue is in the name )
But there's a work-around:
Drag one from the designs gallery and drop it into the document window.
Result
Once done, right click the pasteboard and chose Pasteboard Background>>Reset.
This will remove it from the document background.
Then go to the bitmap gallery and you'll find the tile there now.
Select the object you wish to fill, hold SHIFT and drag it from the bitmap gallery to the selected object.
On the info bar, change the dpi to 96 and change the fill type to Repeating tile.
Thanks Steve - that gave me the hint I needed.
I completely understood the "this is a background" hint of the folder - I just really liked some of the images in there and wanted to use them as a texture on top of some elements in my project.
I slightly modified your instructions to achieve the same result.
When working on a project I just open a new blank document. I drop the background I want to use in there.
Then, I switch to the document I am working in where I want to use this file - I can go to the bitmap gallery for the OTHER temp document and drag that bitmap over to my current project. Then finish your steps of making it repeating and scaling it accordingly.
This way I don't have to worry about it messing up any settings I have on my real project pasteboard.
Thanks!
