Only sailed a dipping lugsail once and it was a ba*****d to tack. Each time you went about you had to dip the gaff under the main mast every time you wanted to change direction.
Nice clean picture but the helm at the stern looks slightly too small for the size of the boat. If I was Egg I now would draw the helm to the correct size!
Design is thinking made visual.
I like it. I'd be especially interested in seeing your technique for the clouds -- if you don't mind.

I Like it too, very nice picture http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Hey ChuckPA,
Nice job on the water. I like the wave breaks. I haven't done any vector breaks to date. Paint them all the time though but unfortunately can't use that stuff for vector work.
Joho was right, the clouds are nicely done as well.
An interesting choice on the green & purple on the mountains. Never used that combo before.
Keep knocken em out Chuck from PA.

joroho: The clouds were done by creating amorphous white shapes, filling them with a cloud fill (surprise), and then applying varying degrees of transparency and feathering. I then cloned and overlapped several of the images to create a realistic appearing cloud. Steve Newport described the technique in a posting in June, 2001.

wW: The color on the mountains was an attempt at creating atmospheric perspective - giving then that hazy distant look. The wave breaks were made using the same technique I used for clouds except that I applied fractal transparency to amorphous white objects, and arranged overlapping clones to create the irregular appearance of wave caps.
I especially like the job you did with the white caps. It sounds easy when explained but it's not.
I think there is a challenge there somewhere. What can you do with an amorphouse white shape. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
