Is it somehow possible to use Sean's 24 bit plugin to make a background transparent for export to another program?
If so,how do you make this work? Does the mask import into the other program as a channel?
I'm trying to put the flag from Gary's tutorial into a collage in Photopaint, and am trying to get rid of the white box. I can do it by exporting as GIF, or by masking the white and deleting once inside PPaint, but thought somehow this plugin would do what I wanted.
Thanks, Mike

What happens if you export it as a 32-bit PNG file which has alpha channel transparency.

You could also import the image with the white background, use the magic want tool to select the white background then reverse the mask to enclose the flag. Then copy and paste the selection.

I think that should work. It would in Photoshop.

Gary,
Yes, that's what I ended up doing, exporting as .png. And as I posted earlier, I also did the magic wand mask from within Photopaint.
But all this playing around, I still don't know what Sean's plugin is supposed to accomplish. So it masks a white background, then what? Maybe I'm having a senior moment, but I can't think of what this is useful for. Perhaps, it's too obvious.

I'm not sure if Sean's Search and Replace plug-in creates an exportable image with transparency, I suspect it does not.

But, if you were building your collage in Xara, instead of that other application ;-) you could select an existing bitmap image and change the color to another.

So, let's say you have another image that is on a predominantly red background and you want to change the red to green, you would sample the background color using the Color Picker--eyedropper, in the Color Editor, to get an RGB value, then use Sean's plug-in to specify the replacement color.

I live in a senior moment, but I think that is what his plug-in is supposed to do.

I have been talking about his 24bit transpareny plugin, not the Search and Replace filter. I have not downloaded that one yet, still trying to figure this one out!
Thank you for your responses though.
